Mahasen Al-Khatib was a resilient 31-year-old Palestinian artist from Jabalia Tal Al-Zaatar in northern Gaza. On October 18, 2024, Mahasen's was brutally killed when the IDF bombed her house. Despite this devastating loss, her spirit lives on through her art, which continues to inspire and tell the stories of her people.

Mahasen's journey as an artist was one of unwavering determination. She specialized in illustration and character design, using her creativity to document the realities of her surroundings and convey powerful narratives of resilience and hope. Her work has touched the hearts of many, both locally and globally.

Mahasen's Artistic Journey and Vision

From a young age, Mahasen’s passion for art was evident. Despite enduring hardships under occupation, including working multiple jobs to support her family, she never gave up on her dream. In 2024, she made the bold decision to leave university during her final semester to dedicate herself fully to her art.

Her dedication paid off as she gained recognition in the Arab world and beyond, collaborating with international institutions and training thousands of students in digital art. Mahasen’s art became a voice for the voiceless and a testament to her resilience amidst adversity.
