The traditional weave — the fishnet, the olive leaf, the bold dividing lines — run in grey with the pattern picked out in turquoise. The brightest of the three colourways, and the one that reads furthest across a room. Turquoise carries its own history in Palestinian craft, turning up in tatreez and in the glass and ceramics of Hebron.
The pattern hasn't changed. Only the dye has.
Most keffiyehs sold as Palestinian aren't made there. This one is. It comes off the looms of the last remaining keffiyeh factory in Hebron (الخليل) — the only one still running after decades of cheaper imports closed the rest.
That's the whole reason this scarf costs what it costs. You're paying for a factory that refused to shut.
As a headscarf, a neck wrap, a shoulder drape, or a shawl. There's no wrong way.
