As a Palestinian artist from Hebron, I’ve found a way to express myself through visual arts and traditional embroidery. Growing up, I was captivated by the designs my mother and grandmother wore - each stitch seemed like a symbol of our resilience and beauty. Now, I bring that tradition into my own work, creating pieces that weave modern aesthetics with the rich patterns of Palestinian heritage.
My Artistic Journey
I first discovered my love for embroidery in childhood, inspired by the deep cultural significance of each design. Over time, I expanded into visual arts, a medium that allows me to reflect the stories, struggles, and hopes of my people. The limitations we face in the West Bank have fueled my creativity, pushing me to experiment and find beauty despite the hardships.
Community Impact and Vision
I dream of establishing an art center in Hebron where young women can learn embroidery, painting, and other visual arts, creating a space of support and skill-sharing. My goal is to preserve our cultural heritage and provide women with a voice and means of expression. Through art, we can tell the world our story, highlighting the resilience and spirit of Palestine.
