Shamya Keffiyeh, Shemagh, Kufiya Scarf — Black and White

The Shamya is its own pattern.

Shami means of Damascus, of the Levant — the region before the borders were drawn through it. The weave runs differently from the standard keffiyeh: a distinct arrangement of the fishnet and the dividing lines, recognisable at a glance to anyone who knows what they're looking at, and quietly different to everyone else.

Black on white, the way the original was. The colour combination that farmers wore for the sun and that later became the thing governments tried to ban.

Wear it as a headscarf, tied at the neck, or over the shoulders.
